Artist's Comments

Model: my wife Liliane
Location: Sand dunes at Itapirubá beach, Laguna, Brazil (about 120Km from my city).

I swear I'm trying hard to get better at photographing people, but as you can see there's still a lot of room for improvements.
I'm not so sure about the crop nor the tones. Maybe a little less yellowish? Or more light tones?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit (2006.10.02 14h20m): Toned down the yellow cast, cropped the top a bit and increased the overall contrast between the center and image borders. Thanks to =hellemester and ~Illuminae for the suggestions :thanks:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit (2006.10.03 08h30m): After a good night of sleep, things got more clear in my mind :)
Change the crop back again to a taller one, including one more footprint (but made the footprints less contrasty). To my eyes, the last crop made my wife look shorter somehow and also made the curves less elegant. Also made the sky a little brighter, contrasty and yellower on the center, heightening the sense of overall warmth just a tad. Replaced the background texture for a more subtle one (I'm getting tired of my own texture stock; time to shoot more dirty walls, hehe) and added some dirt and scratch marks. It looks like a lot of changes, but most of them were very subtle.

A big thanks for you, my dA friends, for your suggestions and nice words  Your comments helped me a lot to achieve the result I was looking for. :)

I think it's a wonderful picture. I would have cropped it a bit at the bottom, and maybe a bit at the top, but I can't say more than that. Very nice :)

Thanks a lot for commenting, Maria. :)
I've tried to crop a bit but found the composition got too tight that way - but my mistake was trying to keep the aspect ratio of the image, cutting out the top, bottom and the right side of the picture. I guess you are right about cropping just the top and bottom - the picture will be a little less tall but maybe it will get better proportioned. I'll try it when I get home.
I'm also somewhat concerned about the picture's tones and colors; I'll try to change them tonight (again, as I changed my mind about them like a hundred times).
Your critique were very welcome!:thanks:

Great shot. Maybee a bit to yellow as you say. Maybee just a little cropping on the top. I like the bottom.

Have you tried cross-processing?

High contrast B&W - i think that would work out great!

I like the shot :-)

Thanks for your always nice comments and sugestions. :aww:
I've got a few spare minutes at lunch and did some retouching on the image. Toned down the yellow cast and cropped the top a bit. Also darkned the borders a little more and brightned the center a tiny bit, increasing the image's tonal range and making it somewhat less flat.
There's still more room for improvements. Some longer/harder thinking and I'll eventually get there. :meditation:
The retouched version already replaced the old one, so make sure to hit reload. I would like to hear what you think about it ;)
Oh, I've tried B&W yesterday and didn't like the results too much. Didn't try cross-processing though - maybe tonight :)

Thanks for stopping by and +faving this picture Kaycee!

Bem concebida, executada e pós-trabalhada.

wow ! I wouldn't crop anything there ! It gives height and I think it wouldn't look as impressive without what's around her. Also, it brings softness, finally, it think that space around her is needed to appreciate the motion :D
Ahhh and cropping at bootm would make you lose that beautiful hole down there ;p
I wouldn,t change anything to colors either. The yellowish bring freshness which is perfect with the dark dress and the concept ! Maybe a bit of contrast ? nahhh... I,m not sure 'cause that way its so soft and light. And again , lightness is perfect with her action :D
Soooo... everything is just perfect to me that way. I really like this shot. You should be proud ;) And really  the texture on backgroung (green) and the composition (proportion of sands in the pic, your wife off-center, etc.)
ahhhh instant :+fav:
